Star Pirate, Attorney At Law

Star Pirate returns in Planet Comics #54 where he goes from space buccaneer to detective. On the planet Sero, nasty-looking Sato is accused of killing the father of the scantily clad victim Valda with a needle gun which is the only piece of evidence needed to convict the cad. Sato's legalist Rasca gets him off while Valda offers one grand in space credits which Star Pirate gets wind of. His robust partner Blackbeard also hears about this deal and leaves to get the reward for himself which SP has a special detectograph set to Blacky's frequency, so apparently everyone in the future naturally gives off their frequency. Sato stashed the incriminating gun inside the belly of a bronze dragon kept by a curio shop owner. Valda overhears Sato when he spills all this to his crooked lawyer Rasca which they get the drop on her for, along with Blacky who tried to save her. Space Pirate effortlessly saw all this happen on his handy space watch and disguises himself like a guilty mug looking for help from a dirty attorney to lose a murder weapon. Only too late do Rasca and Sato learn the new customer is really a fake as he happened to be sporting his invisibility helmet to escape which only makes the wearer invisible while the helmet is still seeable. Mr. Pirate tails the baddies taking their captives with them to feed them to the bronze dragon to hide all the evidence who our hero shoves into instead. Star Pirate and Blacky find the rest of the murder weapons and stolen loot near left undigested by the dragon which they quickly make off with, even though all the money was already hot. Star decides to donate the purloined moola to the Girl Patrol Scouts to give them free popcorn, which makes you wonder how much heated corn kernels go for in the future. This means that the infamous Star Pirate plans on incriminating innocent children in his scheme to abscond with dirty money. While he might be a Rocket Age Robin Hood, Star Pirate doesn't consider virtuous girls as being free of taking the rap for his shenanigans.

Bingo The Racist Wonder Boy

"Comics" McCormick could be viewed as being history's first fan fiction writer. Created by Ed Wheelan, the young boy named Comics is a member of the The Little Conquerors Social And Reading Club where they talk about comic book characters. Mr. McCormick would regularly have dreams where he had crossovers with the various fictional superheroes that run in the comics that "Comics" is a fan of. In Terrific Comics #5, "Comics" and his friends are fanboying about the latest character, Bingo, who was a parody of the original Captain Marvel(the Shazam one). In his own story, whenever Jerry Jones Jr. would say "Ka-bang", he changes into Bingo the Wonder Boy, which of course is a name out of a baker's dozen of young comic book characters with a similar moniker, including Batman's old chum. "Comics" tries out the magic word and summons up Yama Lama of Ka-Bang, a racist caricature of a Tibetan guru which here is a wish-granting genie. ...

The First Service Animal In Comics

Rex is a common name for a dog, but Great Publication's Rex The Seeing-Eye Dog was a cut above the rest since he is also a service animal as well as a comic book canine companion. Starring only in Issues 2-3 of Choice Comics, Rex was drawn by Pagsilang "Rey" Isip who also provided art for Wings Bordon and Shangra, but the author is absent from getting any credit, possibly to remain anonymous, even though whoever it was clearly intended for the comic to draw attention to the visually impaired. Both stories ended with an epilogue urging readers to help anyone with a white stick by crossing the street or getting on a bus, a noble effort to establish in young minds. Our main human character is Dan Baxter, a veteran circus owner who is helped around by his seeing-eye dog Rex. His daughter Laura is a trapeze artist that keeps getting hit on by the aerialist Karl, of which Rex is usually there to scare off.
