Girls Can't Resist A Glowing Necktie

For the latter half of the 1940s, there was a novelty line of glow in the dark neckties that advertised their fashionably challenged attire in of all things kids comics. Their first couple of ties featured a bunch of letter "V"s on them to celebrate the victory of World War II. Later ties spelled out messages like "Will You Kiss Me In The Dark, Baby?" in an attempt to gain the favor of gullible females who would somehow be airheaded enough to be swept away in this question of romance. Some of the last few ties were specifically done for bachelors who had nothing to lose with a picture of a striptease girl wearing an evening dress in the light but showing just her underwear as it glows in the dark. Probably none of these ties were made with radium like the glowing Ghost Rider masks, otherwise there would have been more single men dying of radiation poisoning. The neckties were first advertised in superhero titles like Black Terror, Blue Beetle, and Silver Streak. Later on, they were shown in all-ages humor comics like Jingle Jangle, Giggle, and Alice In Wonderland. The last few ads were printed in more mature titles such as Mickey Finn, Captain Aero, and the intentionally adult-themed Army/Navy Fun Parade. How the ties went from getting a spot into comics with cartoon animals to ones that are borderline cheesecake comics was probably just the manufacturers growing older along with the concept. You would think that as common makers of pointless knickknacks they would realize after a few years that they weren't getting as many orders for their tacky ties than they used to. Claiming that "girls can't resist" these ties make it sound like it's supposed to be some kind of magical love magnet is a pretty clear impression that the makers didn't get invited to many parties. Even with their "send no money" offer, the mystery company behind this farce leaves you questioning their intentions when the model for their ties in the dark appears like its being worn by someone in blackface.
