The Morally Amiguous Sorceress Of Zoom
Few characters have flipped back and forth from antagonist to protagonist as much as the Sorceress of Zoom. Created by Sandra Swift, this malevolent magic user ran through all 20 issues of Fox Feature's Weird Comics starting in 1940. The unnamed Sorceress rules the flying city of Zoom which can appear wherever she wants it to, and regularly she would take it to different parts of the world causing whatever kind of trouble whether she intended to or not. Sometimes she's a villain, sometimes she's an anti-hero, and even the inexplicable anti-villain which is just a term writers came up with so they could add a little more depth to their flat main character. The Sorceress learned magic along with an unknown stranger and then turned the citizens of Zoom into her own twisted creations. The Sorceress Of Zoom is one of the first super villainesses who got their own reoccurring self-titled segment in a Golden Age comic, but as it was with several villains back then they weren't all inherently evil due to the fact that she's a woman and subject to be wooed by the occasional handsome suitor who usually pretended to love her in order to get back to their true love. The Sorceress had insane reality-warping powers including invulnerability, transmogrification, time travel, and of course hypnosis which is how she regularly reigned in whichever handsome guy happened to be hanging around at the time during one of her daily crusades of global conquest. Aside from her would-be boyfriends, she regularly butted heads with other wizards like Zoro, Druid, Morgan le Fey, and even big daddy Satan himself, usually because they were the resident hero type defending their people from the invading forces of Zoom, or were a competing bad guy looking to outbid the Sorceress, but that didn't stop her from picking up arms against the Axis Powers when they were treading in her way for world domination. The Sorceress was of course a bleached blonde babe in shimmering scantily clad attire that made her look like a samba dancer or something out of a Vegas showroom, although that was a regular outfit for otherworldly divas back then. If you're looking for a bipolar enchantress who might be your best friend at one minute and guard you with her godlike powers only to have her play a Reverse Uno and decimate your whole town by turning everyone into zombies at the flip of a coin, then the Sorceress is your ideal prom date.
